Joining the TurboCASH Project
Introduction
This is an Open Source Project that makes use of a number of servers from a number of different technologies. You will be required to register a number of times. We have unfortuntely no real way around this. It is a once off exersise and once you have done it, you will have access to a huge range of services, that will help you to make money from this exciting community.
We have coded the groups that you should expect to join.
Users
It is really easy for a user to register TurboCASH. There is nothing
sinister involved, no fee, no catch.
TurboCASH User Registration http://www.turbocash.nl/register/registerdll.dll The purpose of registering is for us to make email contact with the users. Our experience has shown that without some prompting along, users find it difficult to take up the technology on their own. Also we have an obligation to the tax authorities in each country to ensure that we provide a compliant system. We want to warn users if we have any shortcomings in certain countries or industries. We also want to introduce them to the support community that is available to them. Once we have introduced them to the system, they are welcome to delist.
You shouldn't be involved in the TurboCASH project if you do not use TurboCASH yourself. The very least is that you should run your personal books on TurboCASH. However we would encourage everyone to have at least something to sell, some web business - even if it's "on the side". You will be amazed how simple it is to make revenue with TurboCASH on the Internet. Everyone involved with the TurboCASH project in any capacity should register here. You will receive between 2 and 12 emails per year on this list.
Consultants, Developers, Accountants
Anyone can USE TurboCASH, but for more advanced Project Members there are some higher levels of communication required.
Each of these has a separate sign up, I know its a pain in the ass but
you need to sign up for most of these. Leave any of them out and you will
be "less" connected to what is going on in the project.
It will be a lot simpler if you use the same username and password accross all the entry points. Start with Sourceforge. They have over 1 Million users, so chances are if your user name and password is accepted there, the same names will be accepted in the other groups.
The Sourceforge project
http://www.sourceforge.net.projects/projects/turbocash Start here. This is the world's leading Open Source repository. It is the technical home of TurboCASH. This is where you find all our downloads. If you follow the project closely you will regularly make downlaods. Similalry if you report bugs or submit code you will need to be registered here.
Skype
http://www.skype.com This is VOIP client and instant messenger. By default it has become the standard we use for communications on the project. Do not be surprised if you find contacting us by telephone difficult. You too will find that, in a short time of using our communications, you will only want to receive Skype calls and group email.
Project Members
Every project member should have their own personal web page on the TurboCASH Wiki. Here you can edit and manage your own details and sub projects. You are free to publish the information on which you are an expert.
i) sign up as a member of the wiki - Special:Userlogin
ii) Place your name or company name into the correct geopgraphical place. If you have any questions on this, contact dion@box.co.za or philip@pinksoft.co.za
iii)Use the sample data here user:philipdc an edit it to suite you requirements. This will be a lot easier than starting a Wiki from scratch.
iv) if you are not familiar with a Wiki start here sandbox

We have really clear rules about support and development. It is clearly stated to the users that TurboCASH is Free as in Liberty not as in Charity. Some of the users struggle with this concept, but the vast majority understand that they need to pay for consulting services and that developement is expensive. This makes for a really large market for services around TurboCASH. |
Remember that as a developer, consultant or accountant you represent the TurboCASH project. We expect you to be honest, truthful and diligent when dealing with the users. We will ban anyone from the project who does not honour this. |
Forums
http://www.turbocashuk.com/Forums/ This is a user forum. It gives the users a chance to interact with us and to try to get free support for the program. Your voluntary services here are appreciated. You can also post your requests on this site and you can get answers on problems that you have. Remember that everyone that answers you here is doing so on an unpaid, voluntary basis. If you want "Customer Service" you need either to take out a support contract with one of the consultants or purchase a support ticket. These guys are coin operated. Watch them light up when you put money in. If you are new to consulting in the TurboCASH world this is a good place to tout for business. The fastest way to learn the program is to do this pro bo==no conulting. You will be helping someone and learning the program.
Developer Mailing list
http://groups.google.com/group/TurboCASH This is for people interested in the technical aspects of the TurboCASH project. It is aimed at developers, but has a wider scope than that. You can choose to receive all emails, filtered, summarised or have no email and use it as a web client.
TurboCASHZone
http://groups.google.com/group/TurboCASHZone This Group is for Accountants and Consultants. It covers similar topics to the forum but offers a less formal environment.
Turbocash Shop
http://www.turbocashtraining.co.za/os We have a shop set up around TurboCASH and OSCommerce. This makes it much easier for Territory Agents to get up and running. The logistics of ordering, paying and delivery is sorted out in advance. It also has an affiliate program for you to make revenue from your clients making purchases on the TurboCASH shop.
TurboCASH Documentation
https://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/techdocs/turbocash We regard the TurboCASH Documentation system as as big a project as TurboCASH itself. We have to make TurboCASH run in every market and every language for which there is a demand. This requires a strong documentation set, managed by a revision control system. This is a really interesting site for non programmers, who are nevertheless interested in taking on a technical task.
Request a login code from s...@inwords.co.za if you want to join the documentation project
