PRIMROSE RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB (Established 1896)
The Primrose Rugby Football Club, is situated at the Rosmead Sports Ground, Loch Road, Kenilworth. Capetown. South Africa.
As an organisation the Primrose Rugby Football Club regards sport and rugby in particular as a vital instrument to empower the youth in the community and thereby providing a meaningful avenue for them. Our youth development programmes are excellent alternatives to the scourges of drugs and gangsterism affecting our communities. The community plays a decisive role in creating this positive environment. It is this ethos and mission which make Primrose a unique Club. The club has always been blessed with outstanding players and leaders/administrators to ensure the sustainability of the club.
The Club will always strive to become one of the most successful in the union. Its strong community base - Athlone/Hanover Park/Lansdowne/Wetton/Grassy Park - will be expanded as it attracts players from further afield.
It is only with the continued support of schools in our area as well as sufficient financial assistance that the Primrose Club will be able to fulfil its role in the community and take its rightful place amongst the top clubs in the province and the country.
The club has a large reservoir of talent, four senior teams (1st, 2nd, 3rd and U20), 13 youth teams (from U7 to U19)coupled with its core of administrators. Together we will be able to realise our mission to become one of the top clubs in the Western Province and indedd South Africa.
The senior teams of thr club currently play in the Super League B Division of the Western Province Rugby Union,which places us amongst the top tweny clubs in the union. In the junior section the club participates in the competitions of the Western Province High and Primary Schools Rugby Associations.
The Management Committee of the club comprises of Yusuf (Jowa) Abrahams (President), Faghier Gamieldien (Chairman), Nazeem Kariel (Secretary), Basier Dramat (Treasurer) and Ebrahim Noordien (Youth Convenor).
